24 Boys from Three States Initiated as Brahmacharis for Free at Puri Balaji Temple
As in previous years, this year too, a free mass Bratopanayan (sacred thread ceremony) was organized according to Vedic traditions by the Shri Ram Chandra Swami Charitable Trust near Lokanath Temple at the Balaji Temple premises of the Thana Pati Ashram in Puri. The event was conducted under the guidance of Shri Indira Raman Ramanuja Dasaji, the Mahant of the Jeeyer Swami Math.
In this ceremony, 24 young Brahmin boys from the states of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha — specifically from the districts of Nayagarh, Puri, Sambalpur, Cuttack, Khurda, Balangir, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Keonjhar, Angul, and Deogarh — were initiated as Brahmacharis (celibate disciples) following traditional customs and rituals.
The program was directly overseen by board member of the trust and saint of the Jeeyer Swami Math, Sudarshan Ramanuja Das Ji Maharaj, who also administered the spiritual initiation to all the Brahmacharis. He was assisted by other dignitaries and contributors including the Mahant of Kataki Math Dr. Vijay Narayan Ramanuja Das, Suresh Sharma, Ramesh Sharma, Kamal Tibrewal, and Vishnu Joshiji.
Senior journalist Bishnudatta Das coordinated the event. On this occasion, all 24 Brahmacharis had darshan at the Balaji Temple and participated in a community feast along with devotees who had come from various places.
