Fresh Elections to Be Held Again in Suhagpur Gram Panchayat
Kakatpur, 11/03 (Tushar Dixit): A fresh election will be conducted once again in Suhagpur Gram Panchayat under Kakatpur block. The Puri District Hon’ble Civil Judge Court (Junior Division) in Nimapada has declared the current Sarpanch ineligible, as it was found that they had filed a false affidavit during the previous election to contest the post of Sarpanch.
According to reports, during the 2022 Panchayat elections, the candidate who contested for the post of Sarpanch in Suhagpur Gram Panchayat had submitted an affidavit to the Election Commission, claiming to know how to read and write Odia. However, it was later alleged that this affidavit was false.
In response to this, Shantilata Mishra from Krupasindhupur village under Suhagpur Gram Panchayat approached the Hon’ble Civil Judge Court in Nimapada. Senior advocate Baban Charan Nayak handled the case (Miscellaneous Case No. 4/2022) and proved in court that the elected Sarpanch, Sheikh Abutohar, had won the election based on a false affidavit.
Based on this finding, the Hon’ble Court declared the previous election invalid and directed that fresh elections be conducted in Suhagpur Gram Panchayat. As a result, it is now confirmed that new elections will be held there once again.
