Lord Bada Thakura to Appear in Harihara Besha
During the sacred Kartika month, if a Monday falls between Amavasya (New Moon) and Shukla Dashami (the tenth day of the waxing phase), the Harihara Besha of Lord Bada Thakura is observed at the Shree Jagannath Temple.
This special adornment takes place after the Mahaprabhu’s resting rituals. On this occasion, Lord Jagannath appears in the Radha-Damodar Besha, while Lord Bada Thakura (Balabhadra) is adorned in the Harihara Besha. The Pushpalaka Sevakas decorate Bada Thakura in the Harihara Besha and Lord Jagannath in the Radha-Damodar Besha.
In this unique form, Lord Bada Thakura appears wearing garments that are half white and half black, symbolizing the union of Lord Vishnu (Hari) and Lord Shiva (Hara), along with various types of golden ornaments.
This year, the Harihara Besha of Lord Bada Thakura will be observed on the 31st, which falls on a Monday.
