Puri Police Intensify Security and Surveillance Ahead of Hon’ble President’s Visit
Puri : 30/1/2025 On the occasion of the visit of the Hon’ble President of India to Puri, extensive night time checking and security surveillance drives have been conducted by Puri Police to further strengthen the security arrangements in the city. Special focus was given to important locations, particularly hotels and lodges, where police teams carried out intensive verification and checking. This special drive was conducted under the leadership of City DSP Sri Rasmi Ranjan Mohapatra. In coordination with him, the IICs and police staff of Seabeach Police, Baliapanda Police, Town Police, Baselisahi PS and Kumbharpada Police carried out surprise night checks in various hotels across the city. The primary objective of this drive is to ensure that the security environment in the city remains at the highest level during the Hon’ble President’s visit. Puri is a nationally and internationally recognized religious tourist destination where a large number of devotees, tourists, and visitors stay.
Therefore, as a precautionary measure, this verification drive was undertaken to prevent any suspicious individuals or unlawful activities within the city. During the checking, special attention was given to: Verification of hotel registers and guest entry records Checking identity proofs of guests staying in hotels Ensuring CCTV cameras are installed and functioning properly Monitoring any suspicious persons or movements Reviewing overall security arrangements within hotel premises It was observed that some hotels were not maintaining proper records. Strict warnings were issued to such establishments, and they were directed to maintain accurate and updated guest details immediately. Hotel owners and managers were instructed to ensure proper verification of guests’ identity documents and systematic record maintenance in the future.Puri Police remains fully committed to ensuring the safety and security of the public. To prevent any untoward incident during the Hon’ble President’s visit and to ensure that all events are conducted peacefully and smoothly, multi-layered security arrangements have been put in place.
Regular patrolling in the city has been intensified. Check-post inspections, deployment of Dog Squads and Bomb Squads, along with strengthened intelligence surveillance, have been implemented as part of the security measures. Puri Police appeals to all hotel owners, lodge managers, and residents of the city to cooperate with the security measures: Immediately inform the nearest police station about any suspicious person or activity Make identity verification mandatory for all hotel guests Keep CCTV cameras functional at all times Follow security guidelines and cooperate with police authorities The visit of the Hon’ble President to Puri is a matter of pride for the nation.
