33rd State-Level Mangala Cup Cricket Tournament
Kakatpur, 08/01 – The final match of the 33rd State-Level Mangala Cup Cricket Tournament was held at the mini stadium behind Kakatpur High School. The match was played between Crown Sporting, Bhubaneswar and M.C.C. Sporting, Kakatpur. Crown Sporting won the toss and chose to bat first, scoring 182 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Notable contributions came from Chakradhar Dwivedi with an unbeaten 56 runs and Nayak Janmejaya with 55 runs. For M.C.C. Kakatpur, bowlers Sumit, Badal, and Kisan each took one wicket.
In reply, M.C.C. Kakatpur chased the target of 183 runs but were all out for 143 runs in 18.2 overs. With this victory, Crown Sporting Bhubaneswar emerged as the champions of the 33rd State-Level Mangala Cup Cricket Tournament.
The celebration day saw the presence of distinguished guests including Chief Guest, Sports Minister Tusharkanti Behera, Keynote Speaker and Vice Chairman of Puri Zilla Parishad Swadhin Kumar Nayak, along with honored guests Gyan Ranjan Sahu, Himanshu Bhushan Dixit, and Kabiraj Bishwal.
The Hon’ble Sports Minister announced a grant of ₹10 lakhs for the development of the playground and promised the inclusion of Kakatpur in the Chief Minister’s Block-Level Mini Stadium scheme.
During the prize distribution, the winning team, Crown Sporting Bhubaneswar, was awarded a Champion’s Trophy along with a cash prize of ₹30,000. The runners-up, M.C.C. Kakatpur, received ₹20,000 and a Runner-Up Trophy. Individual awards were also presented: Man of the Series went to Nayak Janmejaya and Man of the Match to Chakradhar Dwivedi.
The match was officiated by umpires Nirmal Mishra and Ayas Kanta Mishra. Commentary was provided by Bhagabat Swain and Kumar Bhawani. The organizing committee included President Pradeepta Dixit, Vice President Pradeepta Panda, Engineer Surya Kanta Dixit, Pradyumna Senapati, Mihir Ranjan Dixit, and others. Scoring was managed by Likun and Sachin, while the match was coordinated by Dhiren Chand. Advisors Tushar Ranjan Dixit and Pradyumna Senapati, Editor Shubhranshu Bhushan Dixit, along with Shyam Sundar Rana and Sanjay Samal, were also present at the event.
