Memorial Meeting Held in Remembrance of Late Arjun Das
Kakatpur, 12.01.2023 – The 22nd annual memorial meeting of the late Arjun Das, a distinguished social worker and a prominent advocate for women’s empowerment, was organized by the Arjun Das Memorial Committee in the premises of the local Government High School.
The meeting was presided over by educationist and Committee President Lakshmidhar Khuntia. The event featured Puri Zilla Parishad Vice-Chairman Swadhin Kumar Nayak as the chief guest, while Puri Sub-Registrar Prabhat Kumar Tarai delivered the keynote address. Honored guests included Kakatpur Block BDO Tushar Jyoti Ranjan, Kakatpur Press Club President Kamal Lochan Dixit, Astaranga Block BJD President Kedar Nath Bishwal, social worker Kshiroda Chandra Mohanty, Sarpanch of Katakana Gram Panchayat Ruksana Bibi, Samiti member Prabhati Bishwal, Headmaster Prasanna Kumar Das, and Assistant Teacher Choudhury Pradeepta Kumar Das, among others.
Speakers at the event recalled Arjun Das’s enduring contributions and tireless efforts toward the development of the region, expressing that his selfless dedication and commitment would ensure his legacy lives on forever. They described him as a soft-spoken, creative, hardworking, humble, religious, and rare personality who stood out in every aspect of community life.
He played a key role in the establishment of several institutions, including Kakatpur Girls’ High School, a modern English-medium school in Gambharipada village, and a Seva Ashram School for tribal and marginalized children in Balara.
On this occasion, meritorious girl students from the school were honored with the Arjun Das Memorial Award. The event was successfully coordinated and conducted by all the teachers and staff of the school.
