Second Executive Meeting of Utkal Sammilani Central Committee Held
Puri: The second executive meeting of the Utkal Sammilani Central Committee was held today at the conference hall of Gopabandhu Ayurvedic College, Puri, under the chairmanship of Central President Professor Dr. Advaita Kumar Patra. General Secretary Rabindra Kumar Mishra presented the activity report, and Treasurer Bhimasena Mahapatra submitted the financial report and assisted in conducting the meeting.
A proposal was adopted urging the state governments of Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, and Andhra Pradesh—where a large number of Odias reside—to appoint Odia language teachers and take steps for the promotion of Odia language education. A recommendation was also made to the Odisha government to appoint more teachers and ensure timely payment of salaries.
For the permanent resolution of boundary disputes, it was proposed that a “Boundary Determination Cell” be set up under the Revenue Department, to function under an independent Secretary-level officer. In addition, the creation of a “Border Area Development Council”, similar to the Western Odisha Livelihood Development Authority, was suggested for the development of border villages.
To ensure the widespread use of the Odia language in official work, judiciary, and educational institutions, it was resolved that responsible authorities should work diligently in this direction. Every Odia citizen was also appealed to cooperate in this cause.
Proposals were also made to form Utkal Sammilani branches in every block, a Youth Service Corps, and a “Border People’s Security Force” in border villages for safeguarding territorial integrity.
Prominent attendees of the meeting included Vice Presidents Padmanabha Samal, Kaushik Sahu, Usharani Mohanty, Bimal Chandra Shadangi, Dr. Subrat Sahu; Editor Kamal Chakravarty; and senior members such as Birendra Mohan Pattnayak, Dhaneswar Sahu, Shibasundar Pattnayak, Babulal Das, Durga Padhi, Prabhas Mahant, Madanmohan Nayak, Vibhuti Acharya, Prashanta Kumar Sahu, Mrutyunjaya Dakshinaray, Prasanna Kumar Pattnayak, Dwarakesh Pattnayak, Sushil Shadangi, Jitendra Panda, Prafulla Kumar Choudhury, Sujata Devi, Kamarul Hussen, Subhas Chandra Pradhan, Anam Malik, Bijaya Parida, Rashmi Ranjan Sahu, Bishakha Devi, Gajendra Mahapatra, Meenaketan Choudhury, Dr. Hemanta Kumar Chhotoray, and others.
The performance of Gotipua dance by the artists from Raghurajpur enthralled the audience. The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dinakrishna Pradhan.
