MCC Jagatsinghpur Reaches Final by Defeating Sundaragan Cuttack
Kakatpur, 4/3 – The first semi-final of the state-level cricket tournament, organized by Maa Tarini Sporting Club of Astarang, was held on Saturday at the nearby Choudhury Stadium. The match featured Sundaragan Cuttack and MCC Jagatsinghpur.
MCC Jagatsinghpur won the toss and opted to bat first. In the allotted 20 overs, they scored 166 runs, losing 9 wickets. In response, Sundaragan Cuttack, chasing a target of 167, managed to score only 156 runs in 18.3 overs, losing all their wickets and thus faced a 10-run defeat.
From MCC, Buta Singh was declared the ‘Man of the Match’ for scoring 33 runs and taking 4 wickets in 4 overs. The match was officiated by experienced umpires Santosh and Ramaranjan Mohanty. Commentary was provided by Mahesh Sahu, Deepak Das, and Rakesh Mohanty.
In the fourth quarter-final match, Shivanshu Nayak, son of youth social worker Manoj Nayak, presented the ‘Man of the Match’ award along with a trophy and ₹1,000 cash prize. During the first semi-final, the guests included Sabyasachi Nayak, Branch Manager of Union Bank (local), journalist Aditya Raut, and Saroj Kumar Pradhan, owner of Digital House, who presented the ‘Man of the Match’ award.
Today’s match was organized by the club’s president Manoj Biswal, Dilip Das, vice-president Sanjay Pradhan, Suresh Tripathy, Pradeep Das, and Kumar Bapi. According to the club’s sports secretary Samir Kumar Kar, the second semi-final will be held on Sunday between Kheras Jagatsinghpur and Mancheswar Bhubaneswar.
