Second Evening of the 13th Mangala Mahotsav
On March 25th, at the open ground behind the Government High School in Kakatpur, the second evening of the 13th Mangala Mahotsav commenced. Among the distinguished guests were Khurda MLA and Editor of Sambad Soumya Ranjan Patnaik, my college principal Akash Dash Nayak, Kakatpur MLA and Home Minister Tushar Kanti Behera, and Puri District Council Vice-Chairman Swadhin Kumar Nayak.
The Executive Chairman of the Mahotsav Committee and educationist Swapneswar Sahu delivered the welcome address. During the morning session on Saturday, literary gatherings and a poetry recitation festival were held. The cultural evening began at 6 PM, featuring musical performances and dramatic acts. Classical Odissi dance and the traditional ‘Rumuku Jhumana’ dance from Subarnapur were showcased by a local dance group, captivating the audience.
More than 10,000 spectators enjoyed the vibrant performances. Renowned Odia playback singer Deepti Rekha Padhi, popular comedian Shankar, and artist Prajna enthralled the audience with their music, humor, and stage presence, keeping them fully engaged. To ensure smooth proceedings and maintain law and order, a significant police force was deployed. Thousands of visitors not only enjoyed the cultural program but also indulged in various treats like puffed rice chaat, fried snacks, and spicy potato curry at different food stalls, making the Mangala Mahotsav a thoroughly entertaining experience.
