A Delegation from Utkal Journalists Association Submits Memorandum to Puri District Collector

On Wednesday, a delegation from the Utkal Journalists Association, affiliated with the Odisha state unit of professional journalists in Puri district, submitted a memorandum to the Puri District Collector. The delegation was led by State Executive President Purnachandra Nayak and included State Secretary Biswajit Pattnayak, Puri District Journalists’ Association President Tribikram Ramakrushna Mohapatra, State Executive Member Sanjay Pati, District Vice President Kamal Lochan Dixit, District Executive Member Tushar Ranjan Dixit, District Organizing Secretary Aditya Raut, senior journalist Santosh Dash, and several others.
The memorandum highlighted key demands such as including parents and children up to the age of 30 under the state’s health insurance scheme, establishing a Press Academy in the state, providing retirement allowances for journalists, and enacting a Journalist Protection Law.
In addition to these, the delegation also discussed several local concerns, including the construction of roadside drains from Konark Helipad to Chandrabhaga, the preparation of a separate design for the proposed market complex at Chandrabhaga, and the relocation of unauthorized vendors from in front of the Sun Temple.
The District Collector accepted the proposals and assured the delegation that necessary steps would be taken. As part of a statewide initiative by the Utkal Journalists Association, such memorandums are being submitted to district collectors across all districts in Odisha.
President Tribikram Ramakrushna Mohapatra of the Puri District Journalists’ Association issued a warning that if the government fails to take action on these demands within the next two months, all journalists across the state, under the leadership of the state association, will take to the streets to fight for their rights and interests.
