Raghubar Das Appointed as Governor of Odisha

On Wednesday, October 18, 2023, as per a Rashtrapati Bhavan communication, former Chief Minister of Jharkhand Raghubar Das and BJP leader Indra Sena Reddy Nallu were appointed as the Governors of Odisha and Tripura, respectively. The communication also stated that President Droupadi Murmu expressed her satisfaction over the appointments, which will take effect from the day they assume charge of their respective offices.

Raghubar Das, currently the National Vice President of BJP, served as the first non-tribal Chief Minister of Jharkhand from 2014 to 2019. He has been appointed to the gubernatorial post in place of Prof. Ganeshi Lal, whose term had concluded.

Mr. Das had entered politics in 1977 as a member of the Janata Dal, and according to his biography, he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 1980 as a founding member.

In 2004, he was appointed as the State President of the BJP in Jharkhand.
