Music Director Swaroop Nayak Passes Away
Bhubaneswar: Renowned Odia film music director Swaroop Nayak passed away on Friday. He had been battling cancer and was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Cuttack. Swaroop Nayak was a celebrated music director, lyricist, singer, and actor. While he worked as a music director for numerous Odia films, he also created several popular and hit songs. He was the music director for the Odia film “Kathantara”.
Throughout his career, Swaroop Nayak directed music for around 41 Odia films, wrote lyrics for over 30 films, and lent his voice as a playback singer in about six films. He also acted in several Odia movies. He composed both the music and lyrics for the first Odia animated film “Dharmapada”. His final musical work was “Shree Jagannathanka 108 Naam Sankeertana”, produced by the Institute of Digital Media Technology (IDMT).
His demise has cast a shadow of sorrow across the entire Ollywood industry.
