Olanga Government Primary School Struggles with Multiple Issues
Kakatpur – 1/11 (Tushar Ranjan Dixit):
The Government Primary School in Olanga village under Lataharan Gram Panchayat, functioning under the Kakatpur education department, is plagued by numerous problems. Despite having 55 students enrolled from Class I to Class V, the school has only one regular teacher and one temporary teacher appointed for adjustment purposes.
Teachers report that if one of them is absent for any reason, the remaining teacher is burdened with managing all the students and handling official paperwork, which becomes a difficult task. As a result, administrative duties often take priority over teaching.
The school’s academic environment is in a deplorable state. While the government emphasizes cleanliness, the surroundings of this school are so unhygienic and overgrown that it has become a breeding ground for venomous snakes. The existing old toilet is unsuitable for small children, forcing them to relieve themselves in the nearby jungle, according to complaints.
The school’s tube well is non-functional, depriving students of access to safe drinking water. Despite repeated complaints, departmental authorities have not shown any concern. The government focuses on providing mid-day meals and uniforms to children, but unless education is prioritized, parents argue that it is unrealistic to expect them to send their children to government schools just for food and clothes.
Locals demand that block-level authorities, senior officials, and the District Collector take immediate notice of the dire situation.
