1989 Batch Nayahat School Reunion
Kakatpur, 14/01/2024 — A reunion of the 1989 batch of Nayahat School was held today in the premises of the Rameswar Temple. Former students, both male and female, attended the event, reminiscing about their school days. As they shared memories, many initially found it hard to recognize each other, but as old stories were recalled, identities became clearer. Some commented that childhood never truly returns, yet memories of school days — climbing the Amari hill, kneeling with ears held as punishment, crawling under benches — brought laughter and nostalgia.
The names of teachers such as Dinabandhu Mishra, Gangadhar Panda, Radhanath Swain, and Madhusudan Ray came up often, with students recalling how fearful they were of them in those days. Interestingly, many of those once-scared students are now in high-ranking positions. The heartfelt stories about the teachers, though some included memories of getting beaten with canes, were shared with fondness and gratitude. Some even said it was those very lessons and discipline that helped shape their lives and brought them to where they are today.
The event saw the participation of several notable alumni, including Biswajit Sahu, Dinamani Sahu, Tanmaya Mohanty, Kun Chandra Swain, Bimal Kant Swain, Bhakta Charan Panda, Bhagirathi Sahu, Harahara Mishra, and Sumitra Swain.
