The Dream University of a Crore Odias – Odia University
The long-cherished dream of a crore Odias is about to come true – the Odia University will be inaugurated on the 24th of this month at Satyabadi, the workplace of the legendary Panchasakha (Five Friends).
The construction of the proposed Odia University at Satyabadi, envisioned by the Hon’ble Chief Minister, has been completed. The inauguration ceremony will be held on the 24th of this month at 11:30 AM. Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Naveen Patnaik will inaugurate the university virtually, as a mark of respect and tribute to the iconic Panchasakha, who symbolize Odia identity, language, literature, and culture.
The under-construction Odia University includes facilities such as classrooms, a library, two hostels, a dining hall, and an administrative block for 180 students. Each block in the university campus is connected by well-constructed roads, and the lush green surroundings enhance the beauty of the university.
On the occasion of the birth anniversary of Gopabandhu Das, Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Naveen Patnaik had laid the foundation stone for the construction of this university. Later, a signboard was installed at Bakulban by the Public Works Department to inform the public about the project.
Due to delays in construction, provisional classes for 72 students had already commenced at the Panthashala in Sakhigopal during the current academic year. Temporary hostel arrangements were also made at the nearby Sakhigopal College for the students.
The inauguration of this historic Odia University, a symbol of the Odia language and identity, will mark the fulfillment of a long-awaited aspiration of the people of the state.
