Youth’s Role in Environmental Conservation is Crucial

A high-level discussion titled “The Role of Youth in Environmental Conservation” was organized on Tuesday at the Koustuv Group of Institutions, Patia, Bhubaneswar, with the joint support of Bharat Vikas Parishad Odisha East Prant and the Koustuv Group of Institutions.
The program began with the offering of floral tributes to Bharat Mata and Swami Vivekananda, the ideological icon of the Parishad, followed by the lighting of the ceremonial lamp. The event opened with a rendition of “Vande Mataram” by the Regional Women and Child Development Coordinator, Mrs. Supriti Rath. Odisha East Prant President Satyabadi Das delivered the welcome address and introduced the dignitaries. Purnachandra Khuntia, Zonal General Secretary of Bharat Vikas Parishad East Zone, elaborated on the organization’s foundation, its mission, ideals, and achievements.
Justice Adarsh Goel, National President of Bharat Vikas Parishad and former Chairman of the National Green Tribunal and retired Supreme Court judge, joined as the Chief Guest and emphasized the importance of maintaining a clean and healthy environment. He encouraged the youth to take the lead in planting more trees and actively participating in environmental protection efforts.
Among the other distinguished guests were Prabhat Ranjan Mallik, founder of the Koustuv Group of Institutions; Sanjay Panda, former Chief Secretary of Tripura and former Union Textile Secretary; and Siddhanta Das, former Director General of Forests, Government of India. They discussed pressing environmental issues such as pollution, conservation, and the urgent need for large-scale afforestation. All speakers emphasized the significant role the youth must play in preserving and enriching the environment.
Soumendra Das, General Secretary of Odisha East Prant, moderated the panel discussion, while Nrusingha Nath Nanda, Secretary of the Kalinga branch, extended the vote of thanks. The event was attended by Sadashiv Das, Chairman of the Koustuv Group of Institutions, along with Narasingha Mishra (Finance Secretary), Sacchidananda Nayak (Vice President), Babu Chand Mahalik (Environment Vice President), Nihar Ranjan Swain (Media In-charge), Ram Chandra Dalai (Organization Secretary), Brajagopal Ray, Mrutyunjaya Mahanti, and Mrutyunjaya Padhi, who all played vital roles in organizing the event.
Over 300 students participated in the discussion, which concluded with the singing of the national anthem.
