Wife Dies During Husband’s Shraddha Ritual – A Love Story Ends in Tears

December 6, 2024 98 0 Comment

(By Tushar Dixit) — True love is eternal and pure, just like two sides of the same coin—body and soul, love and trust. This isn’t the kind of fleeting love we see today; this was a love that lasted over 50 years, a bond that ultimately found its conclusion at the village cremation ground.

In the village of Olara under Manduki Panchayat in Astarang Block lived an elderly couple—late Bauribandhu Biswal and his devoted wife Malati Biswal. Bauribandhu, born in 1945, passed away on November 24 after suffering from age-related ailments. At the age of 80, he bid farewell to the world, leaving behind his 75-year-old wife Malati, utterly alone.

For the past 11 days, Malati had been mourning, her eyes constantly shedding tears as she recalled the countless memories of a lifetime spent together. Those tears carried unspoken words and deep sorrow. Although surrounded by her son, daughter-in-law, grandchildren, and family, her eyes remained clouded by grief, unable to see joy without her sacred vermillion and marital bond.

Since her husband’s passing, she had hardly eaten. Her tears had dried from endless weeping. Despite repeated consolations from friends and relatives, she could not be comforted. From her trembling elderly voice came only one cry: “My love, my life, why did you leave me behind? I was your life partner, your sacred blessing—why didn’t you call me to come with you?”

It felt as if Bauribandhu’s soul lingered near their home, waiting for his beloved. Then came an extraordinary moment. On the 11th day—while the shraddha feast for Bauribandhu’s final rites was underway, with friends and villagers finishing their meal and heading home—a sudden scream rang out from their house. Malati had taken her last breath.

Villagers now speak of them not just as a couple, but as eternal lovers—souls bound for seven lifetimes. They believe Bauribandhu’s soul came to take his beloved with him during the purification rituals. This touching tale of marital devotion and spiritual union has now become a topic of deep emotion and discussion across Astarang and beyond.

SPREAD YOUR LOVE WITH YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY
