Youth’s Suspicious Death: FIR Filed Against Wife and Alleged Male Companion
Kakatpur – Dec 5 (Tushar Dixit): A shocking incident occurred in Patapur village under Kundhei Panchayat in Kakatpur block. A young man named Ranjit Nayak (also known as Sola) of the village had married Kavita Nayak from Panimal about 20 years ago following Vedic rituals. The couple has two children — a 17-year-old son and a daughter around 16, both bright students. On Thursday, the 5th, Kavita informed police that her husband had allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself with a rope from a beam. However, Ranjit’s family and villagers completely refuted this claim.
According to both the family and locals, Ranjit and his wife frequently quarreled. Ranjit worked as a driver on a private bus named ‘Bishwal’ operating between Astaranga and Bhubaneswar. It is reported that he had previously attempted suicide twice, but the exact reason for such extreme actions remains unclear and suspicious.
After the incident, a pall of gloom descended on Patapur village. Ranjit’s relatives and well-wishers gathered in large numbers, united in the belief that his wife was solely responsible for his tragic end. Police from Kakatpur reached the spot and began a preliminary investigation. Meanwhile, Ranjit’s sister Lobha Raut filed an FIR at Kakatpur police station naming her sister-in-law Kavita Nayak and another unidentified male suspect, accusing them of murder.
Based on the FIR, case number 240/24 has been registered, and the investigation is underway to determine whether it was a murder or a suicide. Acting on the complaint, police in the presence of a magistrate conducted an inquest and sent the body for autopsy to the Charichhak Primary Health Center.
Villagers and the bereaved family have demanded a thorough investigation and strict punishment for the guilty. They have warned that failure to do so will result in a public protest in front of the Kakatpur police station. In response, Kakatpur police officer Umesh Sahu assured that the case will be thoroughly investigated and the truth will be revealed soon.
