The Sacrifice and Ideals of Jayee Rajguru Remain Unparalleled
Puri, 6/12 — The sacrifice, courage, dignity, and ideals of the great martyr Jayee Rajguru remain eternally inspiring. His legacy continues to influence generations, shaping the values and spirit of the people. Speakers expressed these sentiments during a memorial program held today at the Sri Aurobindo Dham Academy of Integral Education, near Swargadwar, Puri, marking the 219th death anniversary of the legendary patriot.
Organized jointly by the Jayee Rajguru Foundation, Sarvodaya Mela Committee, and the Academy of Integral Education, the commemorative event highlighted Rajguru’s extraordinary contributions to the country. Chief guest Umaballabh Mahapatra, Chairman of the Sarvodaya Mela Committee, emphasized that honoring noble sacrifices and spiritual values is at the heart of our culture and tradition. He said that Jayee Rajguru’s bravery and unwavering stand for national defense remain a timeless example of patriotism.
Among other distinguished attendees were Santosh Kumar Sethi, Deputy Director of Information and Public Relations; Hemanta Behera, District Cultural Officer; Professor Sangeeta Mishra of Samanta Chandrasekhar College; Dr. Bipinananda Mishra, Secretary of the Academy; Engineer Girija Prasad Padhi; educationist Dr. Balaram Dash; Professor Purna Chandra Mahapatra; and senior journalist Bishnu Dutta Das. They shed light on Rajguru’s life, his acts of valor, patriotism, and steadfastness in the face of colonial oppression.
The event was presided over by Dr. Janmejaya Dwivedi. Sarvodaya Committee Secretary Shiv Prasad Mishra introduced the guests and spoke about Jayee Rajguru’s legacy. Poet Pratima Apa recited a commemorative poem, while Snigdha Apa delivered the vote of thanks. The program began with a devotional musical tribute and a moment of silent reflection.
