Devotees Flock to Shri Shri Baba Lokanath Peeth in Nayagarh’s Kendudhipi for Holy Maha Shivratri
Nayagarh, 26/02/2025 (Bhaskar Chandra Swain):
Maha Shivratri, observed on the Chaturdashi of the Krishna Paksha in the month of Phalguna, marks the divine appearance of Lord Sadashiva Maheshwar in the form of a Jyotirlinga, as described in the Shiva Purana. It is believed that Lord Shiva is especially pleased when worshipped with devotion throughout this auspicious night, accompanied by the lighting of sacred lamps and rituals.
On this occasion, thousands of devotees have gathered at Shiva temples across Odisha, making each shrine a vibrant center of devotion and spiritual energy. In this context, the sacred Peeth of Baba Lokanath in Kendudhipi village under Nayagarh block also witnessed a heavy influx of devotees.
From 6 a.m., the temple was opened to the public for darshan, and proper arrangements were made for devotees to have orderly access. People were seen queueing up peacefully for darshan inside the temple. Special emphasis was placed on maintaining serenity and discipline during worship and rituals, ensuring a smooth spiritual experience for all visitors.
As the clock approached 11 p.m., devotees began preparing their offerings (pana) in anticipation of the grand Mahadeepa ritual, when the sacred lamp would be raised atop the temple, marking the spiritual climax of the night-long celebration.
