Senior Journalist Bhawani Shankar Tripathi to Represent India at International Level
Satyabadi’s senior journalist Bhawani Shankar Tripathi, Deputy General Manager (News) and Bureau Chief of The Sambad, a leading Odia daily, has been entrusted with a prestigious responsibility. He will represent India at an international level by participating in the United States International Visitor Leadership Programme (IVLP), scheduled to begin on March 13.
Bhawani Shankar Tripathi has been nominated by the U.S. Department of State under the project titled “Climate Change and Biodiversity Conservation.” The programme will run from March 10 to April 1, during which he will stay in the U.S. for three weeks and is expected to return to Odisha on April 4.
The impact of U.S. climate policies has a global significance, especially since America ranks second after China in greenhouse gas emissions. The country emits over 400 billion metric tons of greenhouse gases, far more than many other nations. Tripathi mentioned that during the programme, he will study how the United States is addressing climate change.
He also stated that he would explore the role of local governments, NGOs, media, and especially social media, in promoting awareness and action around climate change and biodiversity conservation.
Born in Bir Ramachandrapur village under Satyabadi block in Puri district, Bhawani Shankar Tripathi has been actively working in journalism since 1999. He has deep expertise in issues related to politics, social challenges, and the environment.
Each year, representatives for the IVLP are selected by the U.S. Embassy, and Tripathi is among the chosen participants this year, which marks a proud moment for Odisha and Indian journalism.
