5th Session of Kakatpur Panchayat Samiti Held – Public Representatives Criticize Supply Officer
Kakatpur, 17/5 – The 5th general session of the Kakatpur Panchayat Samiti was conducted at the Samiti meeting hall under the chairmanship of Panchayat Samiti President Sridhar Nayak. During the meeting, several elected representatives expressed dissatisfaction over the absence of key departmental officers, who had sent junior or assistant officers in their place. The representatives pointed out that this reflected a careless and indifferent attitude from the officials.
The meeting involved detailed discussions on various departments including Agriculture, Electricity, Veterinary, Fisheries, Horticulture, Child Development, Mission Shakti, Supply, Social Security, Drinking Water, Irrigation, and Health. Issues related to public welfare activities of all departments were brought up.
Among the present elected representatives were Pramod Kumar Das (Samiti Member of Kundhei), Prabhati Biswal (Samiti Member), Shantilata Panda (Samiti Member), Manoj Kumar Swaing (Samiti Member from Patasundarpur), Abhaya Kumar Sethy (Sarpanch of Kakatpur), Sheikh Abutar (Sarpanch of Suhagpur), and Rupali Kandi (Sarpanch of Kurujanga), who actively participated in the discussions.
A major concern raised during the session was regarding the supply of wheat in various panchayats of the Kakatpur block. Public representatives strongly criticized the performance and negligence of the Supply Department Officer in this matter. Despite four previous meetings being held, it was observed that many elected members had still not been able to effectively present the problems of their respective panchayats in these sessions.
The Samiti President, along with several other members, also raised complaints regarding the low quality of chhatua (nutritious powder) being distributed to children in Anganwadi centers. Dissatisfaction was voiced over the fact that, for the past 12 years, the responsibility for preparing chhatua had been given to the same self-help group. Many representatives proposed that a tendering process should be initiated to ensure quality and fairness.
Among other notable attendees were Kakatpur Block BDO Tushar Jyotiranjan, Puri Zilla Parishad Vice President Swadhin Kumar Nayak, Zilla Parishad Member (Zone 8) Sanyukta Dixit, and MP Representative Gyanaranjan Sahoo, along with several media representatives who also participated in the session.
