Much-Awaited Dighalo-Kakatpur 33 KV Line Restoration Begins – 52,000 Consumers to Benefit

September 7, 2023 115 0 Comment

Kakatpur, 7/8 – The long-pending restoration work of the 33 KV power line from Dighalo (Nimapada) to Kakatpur has officially commenced. Due to frequent disruptions in this line, around 52,000 electricity consumers between Nimapada and Kakatpur were being deprived of uninterrupted power supply.

Despite relentless efforts, especially during the rainy season, and enduring difficult conditions like marshy areas, authorities were unable to provide proper service to the consumers. Although the residents of the region had repeatedly appealed to the State Government’s Energy Department, their demands were long overlooked.

With no permanent solution in sight, the Maa Mangala Electricity Consumers’ Federation prepared to launch a mass agitation on the 13th of the month. Following widespread media coverage of this upcoming protest, the Energy Department gave a green signal to expedite the restoration work.

Without further delay, on Tuesday, in the presence of senior officials from the Nimapada Division, Tata Power representatives, and members of the Consumers’ Federation, a ceremonial puja was conducted at Nadiya Baraei to inaugurate the restoration.

Over the next four days, electricity supply in the Kakatpur and Astaranga areas will be halted for approximately 5 hours daily to carry out the work. Overseeing the project are Nimapada Electrical Division Manager Bishwaranjan Behera, Kakatpur Sub-Divisional Officer Smritiranjan Behera, Junior Engineer of Kakatpur Electrical Section-1 Kahnu Charan Behera, Section-2 Junior Engineer Sanket Beura, Nimapada Section Officer Shivabrata Nayak, Federation President Aditya Kumar Raut, Advisor Tushar Ranjan Dixit, Treasurer Chittaranjan Mishra, and project engineers from Tata Power – all working hand-in-hand with the public to push the project forward.
