Tribute Paid to Late MLA Through Mobile Blood Donation Camp
Date: 26.10.2023 (Thursday), Pipili
On the occasion of the tenth day (Ekadasha) observance of the passing of late MLA Yudhisthir Samantaray of Pipili–Delang, a mobile blood donation camp was organized as a tribute. The initiative was led by Padma Lochan Mahapatra, chief coordinator of the Blood Donor Group, marking the first-ever such blood collection drive in the Pipili–Delang region.
At the beginning of the event, the late MLA’s son, Priyabrata Samantaray—also a member of the State Food Commission—along with social worker Manmatha Rautaray and members of the organizing committee, offered floral tributes at the photograph of the departed leader and observed a moment of silence for the peace of his soul.
This service was organized in collaboration with the Odisha State Red Cross, initiating a new step in the region. The event helped inspire enthusiasm among the youth for voluntary blood donation and increased awareness about its importance. Two temperature-controlled mobile blood collection vehicles from the Bhubaneswar and Cuttack branches of the Red Cross were deployed for the program. A total of 57 units of blood were collected from Madhipur and nearby areas of Pipili–Delang.
Officers from the State Red Cross branch educated donors on the benefits of blood donation and raised awareness about post-donation care. Assistant coordinator Sushant Kumar Rath distributed certificates to all the blood donors, while the program was efficiently coordinated by organizer Nihar Ranjan Swain.
