MLA Visits Bauriakana Devi River Embankment
Kakatpur, 29/10:
The Bauriakana Devi River Embankment has been safeguarding the riverside village of Kakatpur area from flood threats. During times of flood, all eyes turn to this embankment. However, a few days ago, some breaches had developed in the embankment, and various media outlets had reported on the issue.
Just a week ago, nearly a 300-meter stretch of the embankment road had sunk on one side, creating a potentially dangerous situation in the region and impacting the movement of people. Local residents had raised complaints, and the matter was repeatedly covered in the media.
Today, under the leadership of Kakatpur MLA Shri Tusharkanti Behera, District Council Vice-Chairman Swadhin Nayak, Nimapada Irrigation Officer Baikunthanath Dalai, and Assistant Engineer of Kakatpur Irrigation Project Tapan Nayak visited the collapsed section of the river embankment for inspection. They also held discussions with local residents regarding the issue.
Following the inspection, it was decided that sand and soil would be filled in the area, and the site would be monitored for a few days. The departmental officials discussed identifying the cause of the collapse and implementing a permanent solution. Due to the risky condition of the road, restrictions have been placed on the movement of heavy vehicles, and senior departmental officials assured that a permanent resolution to this problem would be undertaken immediately.
