New Year Gift from the Chief Minister to the People of the State

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has given a New Year gift to the people of the state. A long-standing dream is about to come true. Today, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik laid the foundation stone for the state’s first metro rail project. The foundation stone for the first phase of the metro project, from Biju Patnaik International Airport to Trisulia, was laid at Ratagada Lenka Sahi in Baranga.
Prior to the inauguration of the metro project, the Chief Minister departed from Biju Patnaik Airport in a roadshow and reached Ratagada Lenka Sahi. During the roadshow, the Chief Minister was given a grand welcome at 12 different locations.
The metro rail project will be implemented in five phases, with an estimated cost of ₹5,929.38 crore. On Utkal Dibasa (April 1st) last year, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had announced the state’s first metro rail project. In just eight months, preliminary work and fund allocation for the project have been completed.
Under the supervision of the Bhubaneswar Metro Rail Corporation, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation will act as the turnkey consultant for the project. The first phase of the 26-kilometre-long metro rail project will include 20 stations. In the future, the project will be expanded in both directions to connect with Cuttack and Puri.
The people of the state have expressed happiness and appreciation for this metro train project.
