Radio Fair Held at Bhanja Kala Mandap in Bhubaneswar
Bhubaneswar, 14.02.2024 (Singhari Alok Khuntia) – The 10th International Outreach Radio Fair was successfully held at Bhanja Kala Mandap in the state capital, Bhubaneswar. The two-day event, organized on February 13 and 14, witnessed participation from several national radio broadcasters and radio stations. During the occasion, various individuals and organizations were honored for their excellence in the field of broadcasting.
As the only radio fair of its kind in Asia, the event showcased over 3,000 varieties of vintage radios, broadcasting equipment, ham radios, and gramophones over the course of two days. The fair is organized annually by Outreach to commemorate World Radio Day, observed on February 13.
With support from the Department of Culture, Government of Odisha, the event featured vibrant cultural programs each evening, including Odissi dance, Sambalpuri folk dance, and musical dramas, which captivated the audience.
On this occasion, Manoj Mahapatra, a news anchor from a private news channel in Odisha, received the Upendra Kumar Pahadsingh Memorial Award. Radio presenter Shankarsan Mangaraj was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Similarly, Holy Cross Community Radio from Tamil Nadu was recognized as the Best Community Radio of the Year, and Ramvilas Prasad from Bihar was honored as the Best Radio Listener.
The two-day event attracted participation from school and college students, as well as radio enthusiasts from across the state, who enjoyed both the radio exhibition and the cultural performances.
The event was coordinated by Subrat Kumar Pati and members of the Outreach organization.
