Renowned Ghazal Singer Pankaj Udhas Passes Away

Legendary Bollywood singer Pankaj Udhas has passed away. He had been undergoing treatment for a prolonged illness and breathed his last today at the age of 72. The news of his demise was confirmed by his daughter Nayaab Udhas through a social media post. He died at a hospital in Mumbai, where he was being treated.
Pankaj Udhas was not just a singer; he was a maestro whose soulful and heart-touching ghazals captivated the hearts of millions. He possessed a rare ability to transcend musical boundaries with his voice. With every note, he left an indelible emotional impact on his listeners. His ghazal “Chitthi Aayi Hai” from the film Naam earned him a special place in the hearts of cinephiles.
In 2006, Pankaj Udhas was honored with the prestigious Padma Shri award for his contribution to Indian music.

Born on May 17, 1951, in Jetpur, Gujarat, Pankaj Udhas began his career in ghazals in the 1980s. He made his debut in the music world with his album “Aahat”, which marked the beginning of a remarkable journey. In a short span, he transformed the landscape of ghazal music across the country. He gained massive popularity by singing “Chitthi Aayi Hai” in the Bollywood film Naam, starring Sanjay Dutt.
