Kaniha, 26.02.2024 (Singhari Alok Khuntia):
The Tanvi Sangam Mahila Club of NTPC Kaniha organized the Basanta Mela 2024, themed “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam.” The cultural segment of this vibrant spring fair was titled “Cultural Carnival.”
The event was inaugurated by Ashok Kumar Sehegal, CGM of NTPC Kaniha, along with Mrs. Renu Sehegal, President of Tanvi Sangam Mahila Club. Held in a festive atmosphere, the mela featured a wide array of food and shopping stalls. Notably, club members showcased traditional cuisines and cultural elements from various Indian states, offering a beautiful display of heritage and taste.
For children, fun games and activities were arranged. The “Cultural Carnival” began with a captivating line-up by Singhari Entertainment, a cultural organization from Puri. Their performances included patriotic dances like Vande Mataram, Sambalpuri folk dance, modern dance, fire dance, and soul-stirring music by young singer Rajesh Das.
The event was coordinated by Priya and Singhari Alok Khuntia, while Rashmiranjan Behera managed the program execution.
The primary goal of the mela was both entertainment and charity, with proceeds from sales going toward the welfare of underprivileged people. On this occasion, the guests distributed school uniforms to over a hundred students from nearby areas.
On the second day, NTPC’s in-house artists performed various dance and music programs, which were very well-received and appreciated by the audience. Visitors thoroughly enjoyed the delicious food, attractive cultural performances, and the delightful ambiance.
Due to the overwhelming response from the public, Tanvi Sangam Mahila Club announced that the two-day mela would be extended by another two days to accommodate growing interest.
