Kakatpur – Dated 24/03/2024 (Tushar Dixit) – Among the renowned Shakti Peeths of the state, the shrine of Maa Mangala in Kakatpur becomes vibrant and lively during the month of Chaitra. Beginning from the first Tuesday of the month, the famous “Pali Yatra” commences, and the grand “Jhamu Yatra” is held on the fifth Tuesday. Thousands of female devotees and spiritual vow-holders (Manasika) from across the state gather at Maa Mangala’s temple to offer prayers and seek blessings for the well-being of their families.

In preparation for this famous Jhamu Yatra, a coordination meeting was held at the Maa Mangala Yatri Nivas hall under the leadership of local Tehsildar Ankita Anindita. The meeting was attended by temple priests (Pujapanda), traditional Palia sevayats, Temple Executive Officer Kailash Chandra Das, Kakatpur IIC Bijay Ketan Behera, SI Pramod Kumar Sethi, Sevayat Nijoga President Manoranjan Panda, Secretary Pabitra Dixit, and from the advisory committee Tushar Ranjan Dixit, Kamal Lochan Dixit, Pujapanda Sevak Raghunath Dixit, Sarat Dixit, Pradeep Panda, Pradeepta Dixit, Ashok Kumar Dixit, and other sevayats.

In the meeting, elaborate arrangements were discussed to ensure that devotees could have darshan of the goddess in a disciplined and smooth manner through barricaded entry into the temple. After the completion of temple painting work, the entire temple will be decorated with various lighting arrangements and floral garlands. Devotees will enter from the north gate and exit through the east gate, as decided by the administration. According to the temple’s traditional rituals and timetable (Niti Nirdesha), all scheduled rituals will be performed on time, giving priority to devotees’ darshan, said Temple Executive Officer Shri Das.

Arrangements have been made to park two-wheelers and four-wheelers coming from outside at a distance from the temple premises. The Fire Department will station a fire engine near the temple, with personnel closely monitoring for safety. Additionally, the local health center will set up a temporary medical camp to provide emergency services during the event.
