Marriage Ceremony of Lord Someshwar and Goddess Parvati Celebrated on Sheetala Sasthi
Kakatpur, 12/06/2024 – On the sacred occasion of Sheetala Sasthi, the grand divine wedding of Lord Someshwar and Goddess Parvati was celebrated with great fervor at the Shri Shri Someshwar Mahadev temple in Kakatpur, Puri district. The entire Kakatpur region was immersed in a festive atmosphere in honor of this spiritual event.
On Tuesday morning, rituals such as Handi Mangula, Dian Mangula, the ceremonial bathing (Maha Snana) of the divine couple, followed by Batabarana Niti, the first and second Baraṇa (ceremonial acceptance), were conducted. Later, amidst chants of “Haribol” and the sounds of huluhuli, the divine wedding of Shiva and Parvati was performed.
Pandit Sanjay Kumar Dixit solemnized the wedding, while the chief priest of the temple, Suresh Chandra Tripathy, carried out the traditional rites. Retired army personnel Manoranjan Panda acted as the father of the groom, while temple priest Santosh Kumar Dixit took the role of the bride’s father.
The wedding ceremony was gracefully organized and managed by Maa Mangala Temple Trust Board’s Executive Officer Kailash Chandra Dash, Vice President of the Sevayat Nijoga Kamal Lochan Dixit, Advisory Committee member Tushar Ranjan Dixit, Secretary Pavitra Kumar Dixit, Ashok Kumar Dixit, Advocate Anil Kumar Dixit, Pitabas Dixit, Himanshu Bhushan Dixit, Nalini Kanta Dixit, Harihar Dixit, and sevaks like Babul, Titu, and Kuni Jayash.
