Discussion on Ancient Texts in the Curriculum of Odia University

On Saturday at 10:30 a.m., the Department of Odia Language and Literature at Satyabadi Odia University organized its weekly academic session in the departmental classroom. The session was presided over by the Head of the Department, Shri Narayan Prasad Behera, while Assistant Professor Dr. Radhagobinda Kuilla acted as the reviewer for the day.
A notable highlight of the day was the installation and floral offering to a framed image of Lord Jagannath, the supreme deity of Odisha, at the department, marking a spiritual and cultural milestone.
During the session, departmental student Miss Shubhalagna Jali presented a paper titled “Shaiva Religious Philosophy in Ancient Odia Texts: A Study of Selected Works”, while Miss Alpha Samal presented a paper on “Leftist Consciousness in Post-1980 Odia Poetry.” The session was moderated by Miss Madhusmita Nayak.
The program commenced with the traditional devotional song “Aahe Neelashaila”, sung by students Shubhashree Biswal, Boby Pradhan, Meenakshi Nayak, and Manisha Sethi, setting an auspicious tone for the event.
Chairperson Shri Narayan Prasad Behera, in his address, provided a concise analysis of the session’s importance and reflected on the key themes presented in the papers. The session concluded with a musical performance by Shubhashree Biswal, followed by a vote of thanks delivered by Tulasi Prasad Sahu.
