Ganesh Immersion Festival Fills Kakatpur with Traditional Dance and Music

The immersion ceremony of Lord Buda Ganesh, organized by the Maa Mangala Sebayat Sahi in Kakatpur, Puri district, concluded this past Wednesday with grand celebrations. Traditional dances and music performed by artists from across the state and outside mesmerized the entire Kakatpur region. As in previous years, this year’s immersion procession stood out as one of the main attractions of the area, drawing thousands of spectators who lined both sides of the Kakatpur market to witness the festivities.
For the occasion, extensive security arrangements were made by the Kakatpur police. The grand procession started near the Maa Mangala Temple and passed through Medical Chhak, Ganesh Bazaar, Chandan Bazaar, and other key locations before culminating at the banks of the Prachi River near College Chhak, where the idol of Lord Gajanana was immersed.
Highlights of the procession included the Aghori Tandava dance from Maharashtra, tribal dance from Kalahandi, Singh Baja and Madal Baja from Jajpur, the City Band Party from Kendrapada, Raslila from Puri, Ghanta Baja from Sakhigopal, Punjabi musical performances from Kakatpur, and a dazzling fireworks dance performance by the Fuljhari Dance Group from Jobra, Cuttack.
The immersion ceremony was led by respected elders of the Sebayat Sahi, while notable individuals such as Jeevan Jyoti Dixit, Kahna Dixit, Sanu Dixit, Tilu Dixit, Rajesh Dixit, Balaram Dixit, Anshuman Dixit, Tapas Dixit, Sikan Dixit, Ranjan Panda, Guddu Dixit, Babul, Swadhin, Titu, Nolia, Milu, Chinmay, Bena, Amu, Asua, Rakan, along with approximately 400 servitors from Panda Sahi, participated to ensure the immersion concluded peacefully and in an orderly manner.
