Bhubaneswar, December 16, 2024 – Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has announced that havildars, constables, and sepoys will receive one month’s additional salary as per the revised pay scale. This declaration was made during the annual convention of the Odisha Police, OSAP Havildar, Constable, and Sepoy Association held in Cuttack. The Chief Minister also stated that the existing cycle allowance of ₹300 would now be replaced with a motorcycle allowance of ₹1,000 for havildars and constables. Additionally, the allowance provided for uniforms and footwear, which was previously ₹5,000, has now been increased to ₹10,000.

He further assured that steps will be taken regarding the recruitment of Class-IV employees and financial assistance would be provided for the construction of a new building for the association in Bhubaneswar. Acknowledging the tireless contributions of the police force, the Chief Minister said that Odisha’s progress is strongly supported by its police, with constables and sepoys bearing the most significant responsibilities. From maintaining law and order at the grassroots level to gathering intelligence, they serve as the backbone of the police department. Despite adverse weather conditions such as heat, rain, and cold, constables and sepoys continue to perform their duties with dedication and integrity.

The Chief Minister praised their service and assured that the government is sensitive and responsible toward their welfare. He affirmed that the state is committed to strengthening police services by improving infrastructure and providing necessary manpower. He emphasized that while the police force is known for its discipline, any form of indiscipline or corruption would not be tolerated. He also added that all police stations across the state would soon be provided with motorcycles, for which ₹35 crore has been allocated in the budget.

In addition, a budgetary provision of ₹299 crore has been made for the establishment of additional CAPF units in the state, along with ₹16 crore for enhancing police mobility. Under this provision, 649 advanced vehicles will be procured for the police department. Emphasizing the Odisha Police’s motto “Service and Security,” the Chief Minister urged all police personnel and association members to carry out their duties with responsibility and sensitivity.

He commended the role of police during the recent Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha elections, highlighting the essential cooperation provided by constables. MLA Prakash Sethi, who also attended the event, expressed his respect and admiration for the dedication, integrity, and sense of duty demonstrated by the police. Director General of Police Yogesh Bahadur Khurania, present as the guest of honor, stated that the police force cannot become strong or effective without the cooperation of constables and sepoys. He emphasized that ensuring public safety and delivering quality police services even in difficult conditions must remain the department’s top priority. DGP Khurania encouraged the entire Odisha Police team to unite with the spirit of “Service and Security” and work together to make the force strong, progressive, and committed to the public.

The event also saw the presence of the Association’s President Anil Kumar Sanda, Vice President Santosh Kumar Mohanty, General Secretary Kishore Kumar Mohanty, and other members.
