Building Completed, But Still Locked: Inauguration Cancelled Due to Political Conflict
Kakatpur, 09/02 – (Tushar Dixit):
The Mission Shakti building in Kakatpur block of Puri district remains locked and in a dilapidated state, even months after its construction was completed. Local residents allege that although the building is ready, it has yet to be inaugurated and put to use. The surroundings are overgrown with weeds and filled with garbage, adding to public dissatisfaction.
Locals claim that while the state government has invested lakhs of rupees to empower rural women through Mission Shakti, including offering interest-free loans and various facilities to women’s self-help groups, the building near Kakatpur block lies unused. Reportedly, a political dispute in the area led to the cancellation of the inauguration ceremony a few days ago.
As a result, the Mission Shakti building has failed to serve its intended purpose of supporting women’s empowerment. Intellectuals question the logic behind leaving such an important infrastructure non-functional, despite the government’s declared intentions. The public is now demanding that the building be made operational without further delay.
