Day-Night Match Conducted by Kakateswari Youth Club – 18th Kakateswari Cup

Yesterday, a three-day day-night cricket tournament was held at the newly constructed parking ground of the Mangala Temple in Kakatpur, organized by the Kakateswari Youth Club. The tournament featured 16 teams, beginning with league and quarter-final matches. All matches were played under bright lights with short boundaries in a 10-over format.
Four teams advanced to the semi-finals, and the final match was played between the teams of Balara and Bhandaghar. Bhandaghar scored 46 runs, while Balara successfully chased the target in 7 overs with only 3 wickets lost, securing victory. The match drew a crowd of over 1,000 spectators from nearby villages, all of whom thoroughly enjoyed the tournament.
Dignitaries present at the event included Jagatsinghpur MP representative Sudarshan Swain, Ratikanta Behera, Sumitra Ghosh (Director of Jahan Public School), President of Mangala Cricket Club and Mangala Temple Advisory Committee member Pradeepta Kumar Dixit, President of Kakateswari Club Bhawani Shankar Dixit, and Kalandi Charan Dixit. The champion team was awarded ₹17,000 and a shield, while the runners-up received ₹11,000 and a shield.
Match officiation was handled by Rajesh Dixit and Satyapriya Dixit, while club members including Rajesh Padhi, Dinesh Dixit, Suryakant Dixit, Rakan, Kanha, Shiv, Amu, and others worked diligently to make the event a grand success.
