Demise of Eminent Industrialist Padma Vibhushan Ratan Tata

October 10, 2024 112 0 Comment

A pall of sorrow has descended across the nation following the demise of renowned industrialist and Padma Vibhushan awardee, Ratan Tata. He passed away late Wednesday night at Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital. He had been ailing for a long time.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to the distinguished industrialist, describing him as a “compassionate soul and an extraordinary human being.” He remarked that India has lost a face who linked corporate growth with nation-building and excellence, all with unwavering ethics.

Born on December 28, 1937, Ratan Tata was a pioneering figure in India’s industrial revolution. Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi also expressed deep grief over his demise, stating that the nation has lost a visionary.

Prime Minister Modi, in a social media post, described Ratan Tata as a visionary industrialist, a kind-hearted individual, and an extraordinary person. He highlighted Tata’s humility, compassion, and unwavering commitment to the progress of society, which earned him a special place in the hearts of many.

Ratan Tata had been undergoing treatment for age-related health complications and had been admitted to a medical facility for some time. On Monday, Tata had responded to rumors about his health on social media, reassuring everyone that there was no cause for concern and that he was in good spirits. He stated that his medical check-ups were routine and urged the public and media to refrain from spreading misinformation.

However, on Wednesday late night, he breathed his last at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai.

It is noteworthy that Ratan Tata took over as Chairman of Tata Sons in 1991 and was one of the most influential figures in Indian industry. Under his leadership, Tata Sons acquired companies like Tetley, Corus, and Jaguar Land Rover, transforming the Tata Group from a major domestic company into a global powerhouse. During his tenure, the Tata Group grew into a global business empire worth over $100 billion.

Recalling Ratan Tata’s philanthropic contributions, Chandrasekaran said, “From education to accessible healthcare, his efforts will continue to benefit future generations.” After the news of his passing broke, it cast a deep shadow of grief and reverence across the country.
