8 Grams of Brown Sugar Seized in Kakatpur, One Arrested
Kakatpur, 30/03 (Tushar Dixit): Puri Police have achieved yet another success in their ongoing crackdown on illegal narcotics activities. In a recent operation, Kakatpur Police seized approximately 8 grams of brown sugar and arrested one accused individual.
According to police sources, on the morning of 30th March 2024, Kakatpur Police received a tip-off regarding illegal drug activity. Acting on the instructions of Kakatpur IIC Bijayaketan Behera, a police team led by Sub-Inspector Atasi Jena conducted a raid near the Sri Sai Medical area, along the canal road.
During the raid, the team detained a suspicious person identified as Nishan Kumar Sahu alias Milu (26), son of Mihir Kumar Sahu, a resident of Mahapatra Sahi, Kakatpur, Puri district. He was taken into custody for questioning.
In the presence of a magistrate, a personal search of the accused was conducted, and the police recovered 8 grams of brown sugar, estimated to be worth around ₹80,000, along with materials used for packaging about 1,300 rupees worth of brown sugar packets.
The seized items, including the drugs and packaging materials, were confiscated from Nishan Kumar Sahu. A case has been registered against him under the NDPS Act, bearing case number 79/2024, and an investigation is ongoing.
The accused was produced in court today. Prabhat Kumar Mallik, Sub-Divisional Police Officer of Nimapada, stated that under the direction of the Superintendent of Police, Puri, similar anti-drug operations will be intensified in the coming days to curb the activities of the narcotics mafia.
