Drunken Gatherings at Kakatpur Bus Stand Spark Public Outrage

Kakatpur, 22/03 – (Tushar Dixit): For the past few days, groups of drunkards have been gathering at the Kakatpur bus stand after 9 PM, causing increasing frustration among commuters. Despite repeated complaints to the staff and security personnel deployed at the bus stand, no action has been taken.

According to reports, although the bus stand in Kakatpur was built after much public demand as a modern facility, it still lacks even the most basic amenities for passengers. While official records show that security guards are assigned to ensure safety round the clock, the reality paints a different picture. Broken liquor bottles and discarded plastic water bottles are scattered throughout the premises.

Drunk individuals, often in a state of intoxication, are seen occupying dark corners, the back of buses, or even rooftops, drinking alcohol and hurling vulgar abuse at passengers, according to complaints. This behavior has created a hostile environment for travelers, especially women and children.

There is now a strong demand from the general public for the local police administration and the Puri District Transport Department to take immediate and strict action to address the issue.
