Disaster Management Meeting Held Ahead of Rath Yatra
Puri, 19/04 – The Rath Yatra in Puri is world-famous, drawing crowds of lakhs of devotees. Ensuring its smooth and safe management is a major responsibility for the administration. Given this, preparation for handling any possible disaster during the Rath Yatra is of utmost importance, said Additional District Magistrate (ADM-Administration) Pradeep Kumar Sahu.
This afternoon, a meeting was held at the Circuit House by the District Emergency Department to discuss the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and disaster preparedness during Rath Yatra. Presiding over the meeting, Mr. Sahu emphasized the vital roles played by all departments in disaster management. He advised finalizing plans for pre-disaster preparedness, real-time response, and post-disaster recovery.
The meeting addressed arrangements for health and sanitation, drinking water supply, power supply, transport, road and ghat repairs, parking facilities, law and order, information centers, cultural programs, deployment of volunteers, child safety, tourism, fire safety, and other related aspects. Concerned departments were advised to prepare suitable action plans accordingly.
In the meeting, Deputy Collector of the District Emergency Department, Jitendra Patra, welcomed all participants and urged collective cooperation for successful execution of responsibilities. Various district-level officials were also present and took part in the discussions.
