Meera Parida’s Performance Shakes the Stage with Applause at Khandagiri Fair
The Kumbh Mela, held annually at the foothills of Khandagiri-Udayagiri on the occasion of Magha Saptami, is popularly known as the Khandagiri Mela. This famous fair, which takes place in the suburbs of Bhubaneswar, has been celebrated for generations and continues for nine days, culminating on Magha Purnima with a grand closing ceremony. The event sees the gathering of numerous saints and sages along with lakhs of devotees.
During this grand event, social worker Meera Parida participated as a guest in a Jatra (folk theatre) titled Ranga Mahal Gananaatya. While she was watching the play, one of the performers unexpectedly invited her onto the stage. Respecting their request, she performed energetically in sync with the rhythm of the song. Her spontaneous and powerful performance mesmerized the audience, and the packed Jatra pavilion echoed with thunderous applause for several minutes.
As the play concluded and Meera Parida began to leave, fans and theatre artists surrounded her to seek blessings and take selfies, creating a huge crowd around her.
