Patitapaban Appears in Nabajouban Besha
Kakatpur – 07/07 (Tushar Dixit): As the world-famous Rath Yatra begins in Puri today, Patitapaban, the deity enshrined in the premises of Goddess Mangala Temple in Kakatpur, appeared in Nabajouban Besha (youthful adornment). After being treated with herbal decoction (Banaka Lagi), His face was decorated, and He was adorned with new garments and ornaments before granting darshan in this divine youthful form.
After a period of 15 days of seclusion due to fever, the Lord recovered and today devotees were blessed with darshan of Patitapaban in this rejuvenated form. As per ritual practice, after completion of Niti Kanti (ritual adornment), Patitapaban was ceremoniously revealed in Chaka Bijay (reappearance ritual).
While in most temples across the state the deities ride their chariots on this auspicious day, Patitapaban, who is worshipped as a guardian deity of the Mangala Temple, does not participate in the Rath Yatra procession.
