Puri, 21.04.2023 – Under the National Child Health Program, a screening and diagnostic camp for pediatric neurological disorders and epilepsy was conducted at the District Headquarters Hospital, Puri, with support from Narayana Hospital, Mumbai.
In this special medical camp, 55 children registered through the RBSK (Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram) were examined and treated by renowned specialists from Narayana Hospital, Mumbai – Dr. Pradnya Gadgil, a pediatric neurologist, and Dr. Saurabh Samantray, a pediatric neurosurgeon. Out of the 55 children, 11 were selected to be referred to Narayana Hospital, Mumbai, for advanced neurosurgical treatment.
The camp was held under the direct supervision of Dr. Archana Pattnaik, pediatric specialist at the District Headquarters Hospital, Puri. The children were thoroughly examined and provided with expert consultation by the visiting specialists.
The event was inaugurated by Dr. Sujata Mishra, Chief District Medical & Public Health Officer, and Dr. Pranab Shankar Das, DMO (MS), who acknowledged the initiative as a strong step forward in the diagnosis and treatment of pediatric neurological disorders and epilepsy under RBSK and the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana. They also extended gratitude to the two visiting doctors from Narayana Hospital for their valuable contribution.
Dr. Pradnya Gadgil and Dr. Saurabh Samantray praised the efforts of the District Health Department and RBSK team for organizing such an impactful program. They also appreciated the support and medical facilities provided through DEIC (District Early Intervention Centre).
Following the main event, the two doctors from Narayana Hospital conducted a CME (Continuing Medical Education) session for RBSK doctors, sharing important information and protocols for the identification of pediatric neurological disorders and epilepsy.
The event was coordinated by Pritviraj Baliyarsingh and Virat Verma from Narayana Hospital, Prashant Das, Odisha RBSK representative, Prashant Parija, Puri District RBSK coordinator, along with Dr. Jayanta Kumar Upadhyaya, Dr. Shailabala Das, Debasmita Pati, Priyadarshini Mohanty, and other DEIC officials.
