The Stream of Blood Donation Movement to Be Expanded to Various Rural Areas of the State
Padma Lochan Mahapatra, the Chief Director of the leading service organization “Blood Donor Group,” which is actively working in the state’s healthcare sector, informed our media representative that following the COVID-19 pandemic, the impact of epidemics like dengue has significantly increased. As a result, the number of patients in various government and private hospitals has been rising steadily.
Keeping in mind the increasing number of patients, this group has been playing a crucial role in supplying blood to district headquarters hospitals across the state through voluntary blood donors. The blood donation camps organized by the group are usually held in various rural areas of Puri district.
Such new initiatives are helping create awareness about blood donation among the youth and encouraging them to voluntarily participate in blood donation. The blood collected through these camps has been instrumental in addressing the shortage of blood in the district and state-level blood banks.
Regarding the group’s future course of action, Mr. Mahapatra stated that this stream of the blood donation movement will not be confined to a specific district but will be extended to various rural areas across the state. Emphasis will be placed on organizing more and more blood donation camps.
In acknowledgment of the success of the group, he extended special thanks to the esteemed members of the advisory committee, including educationist Satyabadi Dash, social worker Nabaghan Satapathy, founding member Sushant Kumar Rath, media coordinator Alok Khuntia, Bijay Kumar Mahapatra, coordinator Nihar Ranjan Swain, and social worker Tikina Mishra, who has been actively encouraging women in rural areas to participate in blood donation.
