Young Social Worker Honored with ‘Shaheed Rajanikant Seva Samman – 2024’
Date: 30.01.2024 (Tuesday): On the occasion of the death anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, a rural festival and a three-day Gandhi Seva Camp Workshop were organized at Saraswati Shishu Vidyamandir, Kasarda, Niali under the aegis of the Grameen Sevak Samaj Trust.
In the evening celebration, noted agriculturist Pramod Kumar Mallik attended as the chief guest, along with honored guests and senior BJD leaders Prakash Mahanti and Balaram Patra. In their addresses, the guests emphasized the renewed importance of Gandhian values in contemporary times. A panel discussion on the theme “True Development of the Nation Lies in the Development of Villages” was conducted under the chairmanship of Kartik Chandra Shadangi.
The organization’s president Prasanna Patra, general secretary Suryakanta Mallik, and co-director Lalatendu Patra interacted with the students at the camp, encouraging them to embody Gandhiji’s ideals through dedicated work in rural development. They also stated that the organization would continue its efforts to make the youth of Odisha self-reliant in the days to come.
As part of the event, a special program was held to honor young individuals who have contributed significantly to the field of social service in the state. In recognition of his outstanding service in the areas of social welfare, education, blood donation, and preservation of Indian culture, Padma Lochan Mahapatra, a young social worker from Subudhipada village, Pipili, Puri district, was awarded the “Shaheed Rajanikant Seva Samman 2024” by the distinguished guests.
The final phase of the program featured a vibrant cultural performance presented by the students. The camp and ceremony were smoothly conducted under the direction of program head and yoga trainer Santosh Kumar Majhi, who also delivered the closing speech.
