Patient Dies Due to Medical Negligence, Tension at Bangurigaon Community Health Center
Kakatpur – Date: 19/8 – (Tushar Dixit):
A shocking incident has occurred at the Bangurigaon Community Health Center in Kakatpur block of Puri district. Due to alleged medical negligence, a patient’s life was lost, triggering intense tension at the medical facility. The situation calmed down after Kakatpur police arrived at the scene.
According to reports, Pramod Mallik (60) of Pateligaon village under Jaleshwarpada panchayat experienced breathing difficulties around 4:30 PM on Sunday. With the help of his family, he was taken to the Bangurigaon Community Health Center. However, no doctor was present at the time. A doctor arrived much later, but by then, there had been a critical delay in treatment.
According to Pramod’s wife, Bhanu Mallik, by the time the doctor arrived, the patient had already lost consciousness. Although the doctor administered an injection, it was too late, and Pramod passed away. His family has alleged that the delay caused by medical negligence led to his death.
Upon hearing of the incident, locals and relatives gathered at the center and expressed their anger, creating a tense atmosphere. The situation was brought under control after police intervention.
It is worth mentioning that just a month ago, a woman from nearby Ganipur village had died after being administered the wrong injection at the same health center. Following that incident, the state government had ordered a special team to investigate. Now, another patient death has once again raised questions about the competence and preparedness of the health center authorities.
Since the appointment of an inexperienced young doctor as the new Chief Medical Officer, such unfortunate incidents have reportedly increased. Locals have strongly demanded that the concerned doctor be immediately transferred, warning that failure to do so may lead to a mass public agitation in the coming days.
