Unbelievable Incident in Madhupur Village Under Astaranga Police Station, Puri District
An unusual and shocking incident took place in Madhupur village, under Astaranga Police Station in Kakatpur, Puri district.
Following the completion of an Ashtaprahar Naam Yajna (a continuous 24-hour chanting ritual), a dispute broke out between two local groups during the Nagar Sankirtan procession. What began as a verbal altercation in the evening soon escalated into a violent clash near Bahudia Square. Both groups engaged in a physical fight using blades and sharp weapons, resulting in injuries.
More than eight people from both sides sustained injuries and were admitted to the Astaranga Primary Health Centre for treatment. Meanwhile, the Astaranga Police detained seven individuals from both groups and has launched an investigation into the incident.
Due to the serious condition of two injured individuals, they were referred to a major hospital in Cuttack for advanced medical care.
In light of the tense situation, a police force has been deployed in Madhupur village to maintain law and order.
