Rain Likely to Continue Across Odisha Till April 7
The weather has taken a turn across Odisha with intense heat during midday and heavy rainfall in the afternoon. In some areas, strong winds blowing at 40–50 km/h have been reported along with hailstorms, disrupting normal life. This weather condition is due to the influence of a trough line affecting the state. From tonight, another western disturbance is expected to become active over Odisha.
According to the Regional Meteorological Centre, due to this system, there will be thunderstorms and rainfall in parts of Northern, Coastal, and Southern Odisha until April 7.
Especially within the next 24 hours, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput, and Malkangiri are likely to witness thunderstorms with lightning and rainfall.
Similarly, from the morning of April 3 to 8:30 AM on April 4, light to moderate rainfall is expected at some locations in Bhadrak, Jajpur, Cuttack, Khordha, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, and Nabarangpur. This rain spell is forecasted to continue until April 7.
Due to the impact of the western disturbance, the temperature across the state has dropped by up to 10 degrees Celsius below normal. However, starting from April 15, mercury levels are likely to rise again, and heatwave conditions may develop, as predicted by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
As part of its long-range forecast, IMD has issued red alerts for several regions in Odisha, indicating a potential rise in temperatures following the current rain phase.
