Accused Caught Extorting Money by Threatening with Weapons
Sakhigopal, Date: 03.03.2023 – Two individuals have been caught red-handed while extorting money from pedestrians by threatening them with deadly weapons at Kaduachhak, Sakhigopal.
For the past few days, there had been complaints of miscreants showing weapons to pedestrians and vehicles at Kaduachhak and forcibly collecting money.
Today, during a patrolling operation led by Satyabadi Police Sub-Inspector Deepti Ranjan Sahu, the police received a reliable tip-off and launched a raid at Kaduachhak. There, they apprehended two individuals — Muna Bhoi (32 years old) from Block Chhak and Kalia Bhoi (24 years old) from village Athais. These two were caught extorting money by brandishing weapons on the road.
Police seized a sword (farsha) and a motorcycle used in the incident. Another criminal involved in the act managed to escape under the cover of darkness.
A case has been registered at Satyabadi Police Station, Case No. 155/2023, under Sections 341, 294, 386, 387, 506, and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The arrested accused have been produced before court today.
