Famous Dhanu Yatra of Bargarh Begins Tomorrow
The much-celebrated Dhanu Yatra of Bargarh is set to begin tomorrow. Preparations for the grand event have reached their final stage. Construction of King Kansa’s royal court, the Rangamahal, and various decorative arches (toranas) is progressing at a rapid pace.
This year, the Bargarh Dhanu Yatra enters its 76th edition, and the festival will continue for 11 days, concluding on January 25.
A grand royal court of King Kansa, measuring approximately 95 feet in height and 45 feet in width, has been constructed at Hatapada. The Rangamahal is also being redesigned with a fresh new look.
Within a 7-kilometer radius of Bargarh town, the Dhanu Yatra festival will be enacted across 14 different stages. Dramatic episodes from the epic are performed daily at Kansa Darbar (Kansa’s court), Rangamahal, and Nanda Darbar.
